With the number of women coming forward to accuse Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct, one small detail remains constant in all of the allegations, and it’s that Kavanaugh was allegedly drunk while each incident occurred.
Even Kavanaugh himself admitted during his Fox News interview on Monday night that he and his friends had been drinking during high school, which leads us to one very important question: What was Kavanaugh really like when he was drinking?
Well, according to James Roche, his college roommate at Yale in 1983 (the same year Deborah Ramirez claims he drunkenly sexually assaulted her, and one year after Dr. Christine Blasey Ford claims he drunkenly attempted to rape her), Kavanaugh was an “aggressive and belligerent” drunk.
Here’s what Roche told ABC 7 News reporter Wayne Freedman in an interview about his former roommate, Brett Kavanaugh:
“Although Brett was normally reserved, he was a notably heavy drinker, even by the standards of the time, and that he became aggressive and belligerent when he was very drunk … frequently drinking excessively and becoming incoherently drunk.”
In the interview, Roche also added that he knew Deborah Ramirez, and given his time with Kavanaugh, he is inclined to believe her accusations against him.
Brett Kavanaugh is unwavering in insisting the allegations are false and nothing more than a desperate smear campaign put in place by Democrats to ruin his Supreme Court nomination.
Kavanaugh appeared mild-mannered and reserved while speaking of his former self during his Fox News interview, saying dismissive things like, “I think all of us have probably done things we look back on in high school and regret or cringe a bit.” But in the words of his own former roommate he was a heavy, often times out of control, drinker…who just may have more cringe-worthy regrets than he is currently admitting to.
