Rudy Giuliani Publicly Admits He’s Subject of Investigation

Two months ago, Rudy Giuliani decided to join Donald Trump’s criminal defense team, then he immediately began a cable television tour when he ran his mouth in reckless fashion, confessing to all sorts of things on Trump’s behalf.

It was widely questioned as to why Trump would allow him to keep talking in public, as he clealry made things worse on almost every TV appearance he made.

However, something must have changed recently, as Giuliani has practically gone silent over the last few weeks. At first, it was unclear why, but considering recent developments out of the DOJ, we are now beginning to understand.

Around that same timeframe is when Michael Horowitz, the Inspector General for the Department of Justice, released a long-awaited report on the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails. While the report primarily focused on former FBI Director James Comey and revealed he led a witch hunt against Clinton, it also called out other FBI agents for having various inappropriate political stances.

The report, however, does not focus on the investigation into the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia, because it is still ongoing. Similarly, the report also makes no mention of Rudy Giuliani’s admission ahead of the election that FBI sources had tipped him off about a bombshell that was about to surface. In fact, when the DOJ Inspector General was asked why this incident was left out, he said it was still part of an ongoing investigation.

Giuliani actually admitted this recently as well. Perhaps unknowingly at the time, he informed CNN that he had in fact been interviewed by the DOJ about this not too long before he joined Trump’s legal team.

Rudy Giuliani said Tuesday he was interviewed by the Department of Justice inspector general earlier this year about comments he made during the election that there was more information to come on Hillary Clinton.

Giuliani made the remarks in October 2016, just before then-FBI Director James Comey informed Congress that the FBI was examining emails found on a laptop in former Rep. Anthony Weiner and Huma Abedin’s apartment that contained emails between Clinton and Abedin. Even at the time, there were questions about whether Giuliani had gotten some inside information.

Through this inadvertent admission, it’s calling into question whether Giuliani joined Trump’s legal team to derail the overall Trump-Russia investigation before it made things worse for himself.

That said, having learned his efforts to derail the investigation have been futile and that he himself is still under investigation, it’s no wonder we’ve heard nothing but deafening silence from Giuliani these last couple weeks.

To be fair though, I’m certainly no expert here. Nevertheless, something tells me that Rudy is smart enough (or has smart enough people around him) to know that if he continues running his mouth in hopes of sabotaging an investigation, he’ll most likely be charged with obstructing justice when all is said and done. Therefore, if Robert Mueller has any plea deals to spare, perhaps he would be wise to seek one before his silence inadvertently breaks. Otherwise, it could be too late.

Attorney Michael Avenatti has his own theory, telling Business Insider:

“I think that Trump has realized that Rudy is a disaster waiting to happen with every appearance,” Avenatti said. “He has been an absolute train wreck as Trump’s lawyer. Giuliani may also be concerned that I am going to show his hypocrisy relating to pornography.”

Avenatti was referring to a threat he made in early June. After Giuliani accused Daniels of having no credibility because she was a porn star and would do anything for money, Avenatti called for Giuliani’s firing and asked his Twitter followers to provide him “with any evidence of” Giuliani “voluntarily viewing pornography.”
