After more than 2,000 children were separated from their parents at the border, Americans began holding public demonstrations to show their disapproval, as well as confronting White House staff in public.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders was recently asked to leave a restaurant, Kirstjen Nielsen was confronted by protesters at a restaurant and at her home, and now Stephen Miller has received the same treatment.
Ironically, many of these staff members have been confronted in Mexican restaurants. Stephen Miller was at one when one patron called him a “fascist”. According to the New York Post, he hid but did not leave the restaurant immediately.
Miller chose to dine at Espita Mezcaleria in the DC neighborhood of Shaw on Sunday, amid growing anger over the Trump administration separating migrant kids from their parents — a policy the aide had described as a “simple decision.”
“Hey look guys, whoever thought we’d be in a restaurant with a real-life fascist begging [for] money for new cages?” a customer at the Mezcal joint snarled at Miller, according to a source who saw the encounter.
Miller didn’t respond and scurried away, the witness said.
This encounter happened a few days before the Nielsen incident, but the press wasn’t aware of it immediately. It begs the question, is this happening more than we realize?
How many of Trump’s staff are being confronted in their daily lives on behalf of Americans who disagree with this administration’s policies?
Clearly, the public is upset and they are not going to just sit back and let these things happen without voicing their disgust. Since it doesn’t look like Trump will be backing down or slowing down anytime soon, things are only going to get worse for his staff as they go out into their communities.
